Greenpoint Fish & Lobster Co. evolved out of a basic need for a sorely lacking item in the Greenpoint neighborhood of Brooklyn (and greater New York City, as a whole) - high quality, responsibly sourced seafood.
Adam grew up just across the river from Manhattan in suburban New Jersey where his exposure to seafood as a child was minimal at best. While growing up spending summers with his family in Cape Cod, it wasn't until giving up meat and attending college in Maine that Adam truly found a deep passion for seafood. And not just any seafood, but seafood caught with minimal impact on the surrounding environment and habitats of other species. Adam has been a pescatarian for over 12 years and an avid home cook. His passion for cooking intensified, so did his desire to seek out the fresh and most responsibly harvested seafood possible.
Vinny, hails from a long line of New England fishing tradition. His great-great grandfather, John Nagle, and Irish immigrant, started fishing off the piers in Gloucester, MA in the 1880's and soon opened the John Nagle Company, a wholesale fish company, which still exists today. During law school, Vinny learned all aspects of the commercial fish industry hands-on, from scaling and filleting to transportation to direct buying and selling. Vinny was best known to specialize in procuring high quality, sustainable seafood for upscale restaurants across New England, including greater Boston, Providence, RI and Hartford, CT.
